How To Add A Blog On Alignable

What do you do after publishing a blog post?

It's a blogger's worst nightmare. You write a top-notch piece of content, publish it, promote it, and wait for traffic to pour in. Over the next days after publishing you find that your post has gotten far fewer clicks than it "deserves." All of that works seems to have been for nothing! Or do you promote it some way?

The simple answer is that I post it where the influencers in my industry can see it and I add it to every appropriate place I have accounts in social media. One of the best places to be sure to add it is to Google Plus, as they run the primary search engine where you want to be found.

If it is newsworthy, you might consider doing a press release about it. Press releases are a powerful way to get authority bancklinks.

Keep it simple and put it in the places where your ideal customer and client are likely to see it. So, back to basics, you need to have a clear idea of who your ideal client is and where they hang out.

That's the short answer. If you need more, you can give me a holler at [email address]. Hope this helps.

I will invite readers to comment by asking them a provocative question at the end of the post. I will ensure it can be found on Google by inserting relevant title tags and keywords, and I will also write teaser copy to include in the description (the max. 160 character section that Google shows in its results) to entice people to click on it. Finally, I will share it across my social media network, including teaser copy and appropriate hashtags.

I set up a publishing distribution plan with each of my clients, depending on where their target market is active. Content distribution is heavily dependent on having a deep understanding of your target audience(s). In general, I would consider publishing on the following channels:

1. Social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, Google+, etc.) depending on the type of content and again, where the client's target market is active.

2. Social bookmarking sites (Delicious, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Dribble, Digg, We Heart It, etc.)

3. Blogging sites (Medium, LinkedIn Pulse, etc.)

4. Email (subscriber lists)

5. Joining blogging "clubs" like Triberr is another way to boost your distribution.

6. For one of my clients I create a flyer each week that they place on their counter that advertises that week's blog post. Very effective for that client!

All of this is dependent, of course, on finding a highly relevant, interesting topic for readers and using SEO best practices to make the post findable. I agree with Yolanda - hashtags are important. And, visuals are essential - photographs, videos, infographics, etc.

Great question - Humberto. What have you found to be the best channels to distribute content for your clients?

Here's the real question -- did you post for YOUR own benefit or for someone else's? If it's just about you, then it's probably not a very good post and will blend into the self-serving "content" of the blogging world. But, if your post is about something real -- something designed to help others figure things out or do things better, then it will be there when THEY need it. And then, if you do a great job of that, when people need YOUR business, THEY will find it. (as long as you tag appropriately, amplify via social, etc.) Best rule of marketing is -- make everything you do about THEM. They are SUPER interested in themselves and their own needs and if you align correctly, you might just be their solution. Rock on!

Well a lesson from the past, "Write on paper and read it 2 days later". If it's still look important, then publish it.
Not all of your followers are sharing all of your interests. You have two choices
1. Became one that they 100% love
2. Make them 100% love you as you are.
I prefer the 2nd choice but it take time and hard work.

Push.It. Out. Once you publish a post, let everyone know about it by posting a link to the post on your social media platforms, in your client newsletters, as a signature in your emails and anywhere else you can think of.

Depends on what it is. If you have a way to monetize the content, you could promote using social media tools, even put money behind it. If it is more of an SEO piece, that will take a little time. Again, I don't know that much about you, but unless you are an infleuncer, and you don't have an email list, not getting many clicks right away isn't uncommon. You could have posted a link in your question to the content. That might have helped.

Very good ideas here. I would add (along with refining your topics to align better with your customer's needs) that you need to keep on writing and don't be discouraged. Be a shameless promoter of your own material. As long as it is for the benefit of other's needs and not just a sales pitch (aka spam).

The question is - does your blog solve anyone's problem? Does it help your ideal customer?

Also, what about your SEO? Do you research your keywords thoroughly or you only write about what you want and do not think about on-page optimization? Have you done sufficient research before writing the blog? Would your audience be interested in what you are talking about or, maybe, all they wanted they already got from your prior blog posts?

In addition to the above, do you submit your blogs to the Webmaster tools immediately after they've been posted? Does Google crawl your content? Do you have links to other articles within your website and do you have the links leading to external content?

If you answered NO to any of the above, you should concentrate on those questions and tasks and optimize your content accordingly. Having said that, you still shouldn't expect immediate success of every blog post you write, unless you already have a significant number of followers. Building a great content takes time and a lot of work. Don't give up, but don't do the work that nobody is interested in. I guarantee - you will succeed.

Good luck!
